SSC - Reducing Risks to People, Process and Technology in 2010
by David A. Linsky — CEO, SSC, inc.
2009 has been relegated to the history books and most businesses are happy to see it gone. It was a year of enormous economic turbulence and financial challenge for business. The necessary program cutbacks and downsizing impacted all aspects of security, risk analysis and hazard mitigation. These cutbacks range from physical and I/T security, to specific assessment of risk and mitigation associated with both natural and human causes.
The biggest challenge for 2010 comes from the point of which these risks converge. With business under strain, there’s significant pressure to do more with fewer resources. Business leaders understand the increasing number and interaction of risks they face. Facility Management, Executives, Chief Security Officers, Chief Information Officers, General Counsel, business owners and other leadership have a need to extend their knowledge and capabilities through teaming with professional security and risk professionals like those at SSC.
To meet the needs of our clients in 2010 and beyond, SSC has evolved its Corporate Intelligence & Investigation practice to include enterprise risk management and mitigation, naming Michael W. Wanik, CPP, CBCP, Vice President of Consulting and Investigation.
Wanik and his team will drive the SSC relationship with clients to deliver a broad array of enterprise risk services. These services help our clients to develop a deeper understanding of their business vulnerabilities and exposures so they can protect their key revenue streams, minimize business interruption and preserve their reputation. These services further permit our clients to respond to adverse events in a manner that reduces the likelihood of downside outcomes and increases the upside.
SSC provides these services across the business spectrum and across the globe, to legal practices, financial institutions, government and high net worth individuals. Adding SSC’s deep global experience to our portfolio is important both in the context of supporting clients in their own overseas ventures and in vital supply chain risk and security.
In the coming months, SSC will provide a series of informational bulletins and learning opportunities that help both security and risk management leaders. These bulletins will make sure that their business cases for security and enterprise risk management programs include an expanded view of risk's business impact, reaching beyond compliance to include elements such as resilience, culture and opportunity.
SSC security and risk management solutions provide scalable solutions across the entire security and risk landscape. We employ a combination of both qualitative and quantitative risk assessment methodologies and can help create the policies, procedures and controls necessary to mitigate risk and preserve business operations and organizational capabilities.
